Abstract
Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara dengan pertumbuhan penduduk dan aktivitas ekonomi yang pesat, yang turut mendorong peningkatan volume sampah, khususnya sampah plastik. Sampah plastik menjadi ancaman serius bagi lingkungan karena sifatnya yang sulit terurai dan membutuhkan waktu yang sangat lama untuk terdegradasi secara alami. Permasalahan ini juga dirasakan di Desa Sungsang IV, Kabupaten Banyuasin. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan warga dalam mengelola sampah plastik melalui kegiatan sosialisasi dan pelatihan pembuatan kerajinan tangan. Produk kerajinan yang dihasilkan antara lain bros dari botol plastik, tas, kursi, meja, dan berbagai produk daur ulang lainnya. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam pengurangan sampah plastik. Namun, terdapat beberapa kendala yang perlu mendapat perhatian, antara lain rendahnya tingkat kesadaran dan pengetahuan masyarakat secara merata, keterbatasan infrastruktur pengolahan sampah, serta kurangnya dukungan kebijakan dan regulasi yang berkelanjutan. Oleh karena itu, sinergi antara masyarakat, pemerintah, dan pemangku kepentingan lainnya diperlukan untuk mewujudkan pengelolaan sampah plastik yang efektif dan berkelanjutan.
